# How Do the Statement Date and Pending Transactions Affect Reconciliation?
The Balance as of date you enter with your statement balance, and whether your bank has posted a transaction yet, decide which transactions you can reconcile. Owners and Org Admins see this on the Bank Reconciliation page once a bank account is connected.
##### **When would you use this?**
- You are reconciling a September statement and want to know why October activity is not in your list.
- A purchase your board approved is not available to match yet and you want to know whether to wait.
- You want to know how fresh the transactions on the page are.
##### **Steps**
1. Click Bank Reconciliation in the left nav.
2. In the Enter your statement balance panel, enter the closing balance from your bank statement and the date on the statement in Balance as of. To change either value later, click Change under the Statement Balance figure.
3. Hover over the information icon next to Balance as of. It reads: "Only transactions on or before this date are reconciled. Anything later stays out of the way until you enter a newer balance."
4. Look at the For review tab. Each row shows the description, the Transacted date, the Posted date, and the amount.
##### **Good to Know**
- Only transactions dated on or before your Balance as of date are reconciled. To bring in newer transactions, enter a newer statement balance and date.
- The Pending tile counts transactions your bank has not posted yet. Hover over it to read: "Transactions your bank has not posted yet. They cannot be reconciled until it does."
- The Outstanding tile counts transactions your bank has posted that are still waiting to be reconciled.
- Next to the account name, Transactions updated shows when your transactions were last brought in. Hover over it to read: "Transactions are imported daily."
