# How Do I Disconnect a Bank Account
##### Disconnecting removes a bank account’s connection to Bank Reconciliation entirely — useful when an account is closed or was connected by mistake.
**How to Get There**
1. Click Financials in the left nav, then Bank Reconciliation.
2. Click the dropdown arrow on the account card header, then Manage bank accounts.
1. Find the account to remove and click Disconnect.
##### **Confirming the Disconnect**
The Disconnect bank account? window warns that the account will stop sharing transactions and will no longer appear in Bank Reconciliation, and that its GL asset cash account is released so it can be used by another connection.
1. Click Disconnect to confirm.
*Note: Disconnecting only removes the platform’s link to the bank account — it doesn’t close or alter the account at the bank itself. Reconnecting the same account later means signing in to the bank and selecting it again, the same way it was connected the first time. See “How Do I Connect a Bank Account for Bank Reconciliation?”*
A currently active reconciliation on an account can restrict some options in Manage bank accounts — for example, changing which GL account it posts to — while a statement balance is in progress for it. Disconnecting is still available in that case, but any decision about the reconciliation in progress should be finished (or the account switched away from) first so nothing is lost.
